No doubt you are following the horrible and devastating tragedy that the people of Haiti have experienced this week. The first images of the earthquake’s devastation came through on Twitter, followed quickly by other social network sites, television, and newspapers. It’s impossible to get away from and while the images and thoughts are disturbing, it’s important we in fact, do not look away.
Haiti’s people are suffering in ways most of us will never know. That makes it difficult for us to understand the depth and breadth of their emotions but we can all agree that we’re lucky and that we can all help in small ways. There are a lot of organizations that have established funds for Haiti; don’t make a mistake and give to the many schemers who exist to make a buck off of these horrific natural disasters.
Here’s a quick and dirty guide to just some of the valid and respected organizations that you can donate to and know your hard-earned dollars are going to genuinely help the Haitian people.
Any amount will make a difference; in fact, the American Red Cross has secured $4 million in just $10 increments as of this writing.
We stand with the Haitian people as they search through the rubble, sleep on sidewalks, walk miles for healthcare, and cry for their loved ones. Please help show them the world’s support.

Our prayer goes out to all victims of the Haiti earthquake especially the kids. What we don’t understand is the cruise ship that docked there. Was is really intended to help? As a traveler, i think it was insensitive for them to dock there.
I hear ya. I considered writing about this but just thought it was so below the belt that I couldn’t bring myself to do it. It was like one of my sarcastic posts where I make up something that seems so heinous it could never be true…
