Baby Writers Wanted for Glimpse Correspondents Program
We’re sad that the folks at Glimpse think all people over 34 are old fogeys. Especially since 40 is the new 25!
Kidding. We’re just bitter that we can’t apply for this particular contest ourselves. Yes, readers, although we write like we’re only 15 years old, we’re actually over 34.
But, if you are between the ages of 18 and 34, do consider applying to Glimpse’s Correspondents program in which if selected, you will write on travel, receive a stipend and advice from professional editors, and have the chance to see your writing published on NationalGeographic.com.
In addition to the general travel correspondent program, Glimpse is offering a Worldwide Health Correspondent position. Both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens are eligible and you’ll need to be living “abroad” for at least 10 weeks in Spring of 2010. We’re assuming “abroad” means outside the U.S., even though abroad for those living in England, say, could mean the U.S. Catch our drift?
There is a small application fee of $18 that initially caused us to question the program, but it looks legit. Glimpse is a nonprofit organization and while its attempt to glom onto National Geographic by constantly repeating “supported in part by the National Geographic,” it looks to do some decent work. And giving opportunities to young people to share their writing and travel experiences with larger audiences is never a bad thing.
