Montreal

As you know, we love staying at Bed & Breakfasts because we get a chance to talk to the locals, feel more at home during our travels, and get away from the scratchy sheets and $22 pancakes of the typical big hotel.

Earlier we promised you our list of Bed & Breakfasts where we would like to go.  This list is by no means exhaustive; feel free to write in the comments about those you’d like to visit yourself – we’ll put them on our to-do list.

Deer Run Bed and Breakfast in Big Pine Key, Florida Keys
Here’s what attracts us:

  • Official “Green Lodge” as certified by the State of Florida, enforced by the Department of Environmental Protection
  • Offer only fair trade and organic coffee
  • On a private, dead-end street and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean
  • Use of their kayaks and bicycles
  • 10 minutes from Bahia Honda State Park
Bar Harbor Lighthouse

Bar Harbor Lighthouse

The Atlantean Inn, Bar Harbor, Maine

  • In the walkable and quaint village of Bar Harbor
  • At Acadia National Park where activities abound
  • Gourmet meals, using organic ingredients whenever possible(come on, can you resist Pineapple Salad and Sunried Tomato, Asparagus & Goat Cheese Quiche)
  • Also offer cottage rental for longer stays – accommodates 6 people at a very reasonable rate

Le Petit Prince Bed and Breakfast, Montreal, Canada

  • In the heart of downtown Montreal
  • Displays and sells local artists’ works
  • Beautiful décor
  • Private balconies or functional fireplaces in some rooms
  • Crepes – need we say more?
Balcony at Lena's House

Lena’s House, Santorini, Greece (more of an apartment than B&B but couldn’t leave it off the list)

  • Beautiful views of the volcano, Aegean Sea, hillside
  • Kitchenette
  • Walking distance to pubs, shops, etc.
  • Unique cave apartment
Dragonfly Ranch room

And probably the one we most want to go to:
Dragonfly Ranch, The Big Island, Hawaii

  • Eco-spa treehouse-style B&B
  • Indoor/outdoor suites
  • Stargazing at Mauna Kea
  • Close to one of best snorkeling spots and snorkel gear is included
  • Opportunity to take advantage of the healing arts offered by owner and free spirit Barbara Moore

Let us know which B&Bs are on your wishlist!
