Maurisun , a MPO (Market Place Operator) of WHL travel, operates the portal for the islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues for the last one year ; In Mauritius we can truly say that the WHL organization and Len is doing a great job .We are and will do our best to support WHL mission and vision.

Len has highlighted some of the challenges that all MPOs faces. However; this is where WHL.travel needs to roll it sleeves to support the MPO to become a success(to achieve the common goals of WHL & MPOs) e.g. in Mauritius we have the problem to get, through to and a respond from the all service providers ranging from the SMEs to the Big International hotel chains on the "Caring for the Destination".

In Rodrigues www.holidays-rodrigues.travel is getting the SME to trust and believe that another SME like us wants to help them to reach the world travellers. One of the reasons is that they have been misled by so many operators (local and international) with their broken promises “we will give you the world”.

That is a quite a task for the MPO/WHL.travel

The biggest obstacle in our opinion is changing the mentality of the governmental bodies: Tourist Boards/Tourist Authorities in low and middle income countries. There is a policy of upmarket tourism destination as in Maritius. Here Luxury hotel development and Integrated Resort Schemes are preferred to ECO/Sustainable Tourism Such a policy is not the panacea for an ailing economy. But the authorities main concern is result orientated (quick buck) bringing in more tourist and foreign currency only for the sake of statistic. They do not care for the environment. Short lived economic development is to the detriment of the communities and moreover alienating their participation.

I hope that Len agree that WHL.travel also can play a role here.

Nice interview. It's great to read about a company that is working hard to do things the right way on a big scale. I agree that the current website can be a little confusing, and there is always room for improvement but this certainly doesn't detract from the inspiring goals being chased and achieved here. I look forward to seeing a lot more of whl.travel as the year progresses.
